Riot upgrading VALORANT post-match win and loss screens

Riot is planning to roll out significant changes to the VALORANT post-match win and loss screens for patch 5.08

In an effort to upgrade VALORANT's existing user experience and interface, Riot is planning to roll out significant changes to the post-game win and loss screens for patch 5.08.

"Show off your team’s MVP and your team composition while reinforcing the emotional narrative coming out of your most recent game—win or lose,” said Tea Chang, UX design manager for VALORANT at Riot.

Riot committing to upgrading VALORANT

The new initiative is to enliven the experience for players with quality of life changes. The new screens will emphasize the narrative of the game by highlighting the MVP and the team composition. New win and loss screens include the full team, character models and a more engaging scoreboard. In its initial design, it looks similiar to CS:GO's current post-match screens.

Juxtaposed next to the older scoreboard, the new visuals are striking, making players actively want to view it rather than quickly queuing into the next match. Upgrading the current system is a part of a long term goal of clearing the "visual clutter" and improving the aesthetic. Riot announced multiple teams are working with this goal in mind.

"This includes reevaluating our UX/UI standards, assessing art fidelity, and introducing motion design to boost game flow and expression. Additionally, this revamp will better prepare us for a more consistent look and functionality as we work towards future platform experiences" said Tea Chang.

On top of the post-game screens, Riot is committing to cleaning up the clutter in the pre-match face-off. This will improve readability for the game across the board. They hinted at bigger and better updates to come with this change and patch 5.08 is the starting point.

More UI and UX changes coming

In the developer post, Riot shared that these changes have been slowly rolling out already with patch 5.03. Furthermore, the mockups display an older Fnatic roster from 2021. This poses the idea that these changes have been in the works for a full year.

Again, the goal is to improve the flow and consistency for the player outside the game. Since beta, VALORANT has upgraded the gameplay tremendously. But, nearly three years after its release, it's time to focus on quality of life changes. The updates will make the game more appealing aside from gameplay mechanics, new maps and agents.
