Paper Rex vs LOUD - Tournament life on the line in this one

These two teams were top three at Champions. Now, they meet again with a top three placement for the winner at VCT Masters Madrid. High tier consistency is what we've see from them, but someone has to falter before it is over.

For LOUD, they haven't been able to overcome Sentinels since the Americas Kickoff Grand Final. It was a close contest, and that should hopefully have prepared them for an always dangerous and always aggressive PRX squad.

When it comes to the Pacific league team, they are ready to turn things around. Similar to LOUD, they've been unable to get past their regional counterpart in Gen.G. This is the perfect chance to right the ship and look for revenge in the coming days.

Paper Rex vs LOUD - VCT Masters Madrid Lower Round 1 recap

Read on for coverage of the match.

Map 1: Ascent

Paper Rex took the pistol round, as both teams tried to innovate with their off-meta comps. That set them up for the next, but qck delivered a great Clutch round to get LOUD their first. From there PRX, took back the lead and hoped to push on through the opening half.

LOUD had other plans, though. They fought back into it, bringing the score very close. Their defensive holds were working, and PRX got shut down for the rest of the half. LOUD managed to tie the score before switching sides.

Heading into their defensive side, Paper Rex looked good in the pistol. Then a solid hold with the Judge got them up by two. That did not last long, however. LOUD punished them on their attack with perfect positioning and executions.

As the map inched closer to the end, LOUD's resiliency was soon matched by that of Paper Rex. With map point in reach, PRX maintained their composure to keep it tight. Tied at 11:11, it could have been anyone's game, but Paper Rex would not be stopped.

Map 2: Sunset

LOUD went up first, but a following Thrifty for PRX tied it early. LOUD responded with a Thrifty of their own, as no team could garner momentum. And guess what? Paper Rex tied it at 2:2 with yet another Thrifty round.

This was followed by a Thrifty round. The lesser weapons were getting the job done, as the teams went back and forth. Thrifty, Thrifty, Thrifty. They kept on coming, as Less got five kills, but still lost the round to keep things close. PRX finally pulled ahead, though, to take a lead before halftime.

The second half opened in favor of Paper Rex. They quickly gained a four-round advantage over LOUD, looking to close out the map and the series in the process. And while LOUD was scrappy, a massive Clutch by mindfreak got PRX to 10.

Right after, Paper Rex hit 11 and LOUD was reeling. A 3K by f0rsakeN delivered map point to his team. A good couple of plays from LOUD only delayed the inevitable. Leave it up to something for a 3K, shutting LOUD down and giving PRX the victory.
