DarkZero acquires NRG

On Dec. 19, Miller announced that it's time to pass NRG to the next generation. He said that NRG will be sold to DarkZero, which is an organization with lots of experience in the esports space. According to Miller, DarkZero will be the stewards of the NRG brand and keep all of the players, staff, and himself.

"They're keeping most everybody in the org -- all the players, all the staff, myself. Jamie, of course, is still gonna be running the show on the gaming side," Miller said, referring to chief gaming officer Jaime Cohenca. "So we are really fortunate to have a group with deep pockets and a lot of imagination and a long-term view for the space."

He continued, adding that NRG will remain NRG for the foreseeable future. He will also stay involved in an advisory role and support CEO Don Kim and the leadership team.

Andy Miller on NRG's esports journey

Miller then recalled how he started NRG as a hobby about 11 or 12 years ago and never imagined it would become his full-time job. The journey had ups and downs, but ended on a high note with back-to-back world championships in VALORANT and Rocket League.

"I'm so proud to have worked with everybody over the years," he said. "And so happy to have met so many of the fans and so many folks. You know, Jamie and I were talking the other day [about] who have been our fans from Day 1, and they were 12 years old when we started -- 13 years old just getting into gaming. And now they're 23 years old and they're adults. And they're still NRG fans. And they have new games and new interests, but the family continues to grow."

To end the video, Miller thanked everyone who made NRG special over the years.
