In the post-match press conference following G2 vs. EDG, valyn spoke on if the loss humbled him and the team at all.
G2 Esports has proven to be one of the best VALORANT teams in the world. They dominated the Americas region and made their way to Masters Bangkok, where Jacob "valyn" Batio and company finally suffered their first defeat of 2025.
Reigning VALORANT Champions, Edward Gaming, bested G2 in a 2:1 victory. In the post-match press conference, we asked the G2 IGL if, after being pre-emptively labeled the best team in the world, if the team felt humbled at all by the loss.

Having a perfect record puts a lot of pressure on players. You want to keep it up for yourself and your fans. But the pressure can be sort of relieved when that first loss comes. Especially if there is still a chance to bounce back.
After an exciting and anticipated series between G2 Esports and Edward Gaming at VALORANT Masters Bangkok, we attended the post-match press conference. G2 was up first, and we asked anyone who'd like to answer if the loss felt humbling in any way.
It was valyn who decided to answer on behalf of the G2 squad:
"I'll take this one on. So, I think that in terms of humbling, I don't, I don't think so. I think that we have humility and understand, and we've always preached that every game is a new game. And we have to put in the same effort and try to get the same results.
"But in terms of like understanding as a team of how to adapt, how to play different metas and against different styles, I think we learned a lot from today. I think EDG had a phenomenal game plan and we haven't been tested like that before this year, so I give credit to them.
"But I think we were just not prepared enough for that kind of style. And I mean, I know my guys, we always, when our backs are against the wall, we always come back the hardest. So, I'm not really worried, I'm not intimidated.
"But I'm glad we took the loss now rather than losing the life in playoffs, because I know we're going to win the next one. So it's, you know, it's part of the game. You're going to lose some, you're going win some, but it's how we learn from it. And still confident."
G2 will go up against one of the two teams that stave off elimination, with another chance at qualifying for playoffs alongside EDG and Team Vitality. Feel free to watch the full press conferences below, or click here to see the question and answer directly.
