Cloud9 vs. Moist x Shopify – Red Bull Home Ground NA Qualifier results

The Red Bull Home Ground NA Qualifier for 2024 kicks off with Cloud9 vs. Moist x Shopify. The two teams start the day in hopes of advancing through the tournament, with the World Final in Berlin as the reward for victory.

These OFF//SEASON tournaments are a rare treat where we get to see partnered VCT teams take on each other outside of the VCT, or battle with Tier 2 and Challengers teams. We normally don't get to see that, so sit back and enjoy the highlights and results ahead.

There are some fun storylines in this one. You've got a former MxS player standing in for Cloud9, another former C9 player returning, and then a former C9 player on MxS.

This best-of-three should be a good one. It'll set the stage for the rest of the day, with Tarik and Ludwig looking on as hosts. As well, TenZ is co-streaming from on-site so you can check out his thoughts on each game.

Read on for a summary of each map along with clips that highlight the action.

A 3K from mada started this one, putting MxS up with a pistol round. As the attacking team, MxS had no problem taking rounds. They went up to what seemed like an easy 4:0 count. Cloud9 finally got one on the board after a new Flawless round.

Unfortunately, that did not spark a streak of rounds for C9. MxS continued to roll through the first half. The mada show got the crowd hyped up, after he netted two quick kills and started playing to those in attendance. A 4K from Xeppaa finally showed life for C9, as the crowd booed v1c for stealing the Ace.

It wasn't enough to keep MxS from having a solid lead at the half. C9 would hope for the 9:3 curse to activate, however. Another multikill from Xeppaa got their attack side started. After MxS got some weapons in their hands, though, their defense started to stick.

Moist x Shopify was able to push past double digits and and it didn't look good for Cloud9 on their pick. Map point was more than achievable for MxS, as they pushed to send things to Ascent. And that they did, taking down C9 with a dominating Bind strategy and flyuh ending it with a 4K.

Cloud9 struck first on map two. They went up 3:0, mirroring how MxS handled them on Bind. They would then get a fourth round in a row. A big MxS round finally got them on the board. It wouldn't sustain, though, as Cloud9 was ready to close this one out quickly.

OXY started wrecking shop with the Outlaw to get Cloud9 to seven. Their defense continued to be unbreakable, as great aim, more Outlaw plays, and Odin spam helped them stroll through the first half. MxS only got two.

The second half began with two Cloud9 rounds. They went up to map point, before MxS prevented them from converting the bonus. That would be all they'd get in this one, however.

Cloud9 would get some decent weapons back in their favor. They'd push through B Main, rotate into Mid, then finish things at A Tree. It was easy peasy as the series goes to a third map.

OXY kept up his momentum into Sunset, taking down three in the pistol round to get Cloud9 on the board first. A misstep by MxS prevented them from being able to take on Cloud9's bonus. That wasn't the nail in the coffin it could have been, however, as they got their first round in the fourth of the map.

Cloud9's attack was a struggle for MxS to overcome in this first half. They kept rolling and the lead extended even further with a mitch 4K. It was much similar to map two, as Cloud9 went up 10:2 before halftime.

There was nothing Moist x Shopify could do against Cloud9 here. The pistol round saw C9's streak continue. A quick push to A by MxS was shut down by an OXY 4K. That brought Cloud9 to map and series point.

The following round was an almost identical push by MxS, but this time it paid off. A 1v1 went the way of flyuh to give his team a third round. A nasty clutch by v1c put it away, sending Cloud9 on to the Grand Final of the Red Bull Home Ground NA qualifier.
