In a post-match press conference, FNATIC’s Boaster gave his thoughts on the mix of new and old, teams and players, at Champions.

VALORANT Champions 2024 is grinding through its Group Stage. And one match that had all eyes on it was FNATIC vs. DRX. The winner snagged a spot in the playoffs. Unfortunately for Jake "Boaster" Howlett and company, it was the Pacific League team.

FNATIC still has a chance to make it through, but this game was a showcase of the new DRX squad and what they're capable of. So, in a post-match press conference, we asked Boaster his thoughts on the teams at Champions that have a VALORANT legacy mixing with those newer to the upper echelons.

We spoke to FNATIC with other members of the media during the post-match press conference after their match with DRX. Our question was directed towards Boaster, the team's IGL.

The question noted "legacy teams" at Champions that have been there many times before, and how they are comparing to the teams that are in the spotlight for the first time. With a strong mix of experience and newness at the tournament, here's what the pro had to say:

"I think it's a common occurrence. You get the fresh blood in, and then you mix it up with some people that have a little bit of experience. Normally, they go into the IGL role, or a less flashier role. It's nice to have a mixture of the two. If you keep with the oldies, it's hard for them to stay motivated.

"Or remember what it's like to be hungry. You bring in a fresh blood, and they kind of remind you of that. I think, yeah, it's good. I think the people that stay in the scene the longest are the ones that are able to maintain their motivation, or their hunger."

Ignore the moderator of the press conference starting the recording in the middle of Boaster's answer if you're watching the video, and you've got some deep insight into what a VALORANT veteran thinks. It is interesting to hear his take on how successful teams stay that way by inserting that "fresh blood."
