A few top players registered for this tournament in Bolivia

The stakes are getting high in the competitive TEKKEN 8 community, with only two TEKKEN World Tour Master events left to earn standing points. On the other hand, some top players on the global leaderboard can relax — they qualify for the TWT Finals for sure. They skip big qualifiers, giving a chance to other contenders earn standing points.

Such an occasion occurred at Punishment 3. No one from the top 14 on the leaderboard attended it. And even Arslan Ash who registered for the tournament did not participate in the matches (he is 2nd and already qualified). That allowed a strong player from the South American region to win and jump from the 40+ placement to the qualification limit of the top 20.

Everything about this tournament is here: the stream, schedule, some info on other top participants, and final results.

The results of TEKKEN 8 Punishment 3

leemishima from Argentina played Lidia in this tournament, and he lost no games in the top 8 brackets. This victory brought the player 560 points and boosted him to place 17 on the TWT 2024 leaderboard.

Another competitor who has propelled himself up in the TEKKEN 8 World Tour global standings is KingReyJr from the US. He is 20th now, so his position is still rather uncertain. Fear Of Silence and Shadow 20z were eliminated from Punishment 3 in the top 32 brackets. Fear Of Silence is 21st on the leaderboard. Some points grinding is needed to still qualify for the Finals. Shadow 20z keeps his place 15.

Top players to watch out for

Many strong local players have registered for Punishment 3, and they have to fight against some of the best TEKKEN competitors in the world. Sandly, one of the biggest TEKKEN celebrities, the TEKKEN 8 Evo 2024 champion, Arslan Ash, registered for the tournament but did not attend it. Still there were other strong players in the brackets.

TWT competition: reaching the top 20

While most guys in the leaderboard top 10 do not bother with earning points at the moment, the second half of the qualifying limit is still in danger and should strengthen their positions. American players are eager to do so — or to try and reach the top 20.

  • Shadow 20z performed well at Emirates Showdown 2024, so he is 15th on the leaderboard before Punishment 3.
  • Fear of Silence is 18th, and his position is threatened by quite a few other competitors, with very close numbers of standing points.
  • KingReyJr is currently out of the top 20, but he needs only 35 points to be within the qualification limit. Finishing in the top 8 at TEKKEN 8 Punishment 3 will be quite a boost (places 7-8 bring 150 points).
  • ty has a bigger gap to the top 20. The player has 540 points, and he is 45th. But the victory here brings 560 points, and it may be enough for qualifying. Place 2 is 400 points.

TEKKEN 8 players from other regions are in a similar situation. They need a top placement here to break behind the top 20 barrier (which is 975 points and above at the moment).

  • Yagami from Australia has 890 points, and he is 23rd.
  • Farzeen from Pakistan is 24th, with 855 points.
  • Noel is a Bolivian player, and he has 820 points and place 25.
  • Tibetano travels from Spain to get more than the current 680 points and finish the TEKKEN World Tour 2024 higher than place 32.

After this tournament, only one Master event remains in the World Tour. It's Thaiger Uppercut from Oct. 5 to Oct. 6. And there are four Challenger events in September, but they bring fewer points. For TEKKEN 8 news and updates, stick around on esports.gg.
