The game got many changes for the release of Heihachi Mishima. Some of them slightly nerf the strongest characters.

TEKKEN 8 Patch 1.08.01 is mainly whirling around introducing new content to the game: a playable character, a stage, items in the shop, and even a story episode. The update also brings interesting additions to the online competition and some practical features. Sure, the most interesting part of TEKKEN 8 1.08.01 Patch Notes is the rebalance of the current roster.

Heihachi Mishima is here!

The legendary TEKKEN character joins the newest game! Heihachi Mishima in T8 is available:

  • On Sept. 30 — via Early Access for the owners of Playable Character Year 1 Pass.
  • On Oct. 3 (North America) and Oct. 4 (Japan, Europe) — full release.

TEKKEN 8 story episode: Unforgotten Echoes

To let the players experience the story behind Heihachi Mishima (or rather his return to action), Lidia, and Eddy Gordo, the TEKKEN 8 developers have added a new story episode to the game. Unforgotten Echoes is available even if you do not own the mentioned DLC characters and stage.

Genmaji Temple: A new TEKKEN 8 stage

Unlike Sea Side Resort, released alongside Lidia Sobieska, this one is a purchasable stage. Genmaji Temple in TEKKEN 8 is available in the shop.

The decision to sell stages disappointed the community — to the level where Katsuhiro Harada had to apologize for it.

TEKKEN 8 Fight Pass -Round 3-

The biggest part of TEKKEN 8 Update 1.08.01, in terms of cosmetic items, is the start of a new Fight Pass. Round 3 includes quite a few costumes, poses, avatar customizations, etc.

Progress through the TEKKEN 8 Fight Pass tiers by completing special missions. With the Premium tier, you will get substantially more rewards.

  • Customization items Gentle Monster Inferno and Crocodile Leather Top Hat

Character adjustments in TEKKEN 8 1.08.01: Patch Notes

During the release of the TEKKEN 8 Update 1.07, the developers promised to nerf some of the strongest characters. As an example, they mentioned Dragunov, a character that regularly wins TEKKEN 8 esports events. While the nerfs are still in the plans, they are not happening in 1.08.

The official TEKKEN 8 Patch Notes 1.08.01 mention that “characters whose performance stood out” got their effectiveness reduced without changing their behavior too much. The upcoming update 1.09 should be much more impactful, as it will change important aspects, such as the tracking performance and effects on hit.

In Patch Notes 1.08.01, you’ll find info on common adjustments and details on individual characters.

Matchmaking and gameplay features

There are some general changes in the TEKKEN 8 Patch Notes 1.08.01.

  • If you play with the Special Style (simplified input), you are able to use the new Aerial Combo feature. It becomes active after a successful parry of a low attack.
  • In Ranked Matches, the TEKKEN 8 players earn different amounts of rank points. This should make the progression and matchmaking more fair. For example, if the rank difference in a match is big, the participants earn/lose less points.
  • The search range for Ranked Matches has been adjusted to let players in some regions find opponents quicker (expanded range). At the same time, in “crowded” regions, the search is more aimed at connecting players with closer ranks.
  • The expanded search range has been implemented for the Quick Match TEKKEN 8 mode as well.

Update 1.08 also brings some improvements to the TEKKEN 8 interface. It’s nice to explore the available options directly in the game, or you can check them out in the official Patch Notes here.

The game is thriving at the moment in both content and competitive departments. The final World Tour 2024 qualification is right around the corner: Thaiger Uppercut 2024 is from Oct. 4 to Oct. 6. For all TEKKEN 8 news and updates, stick around on esports.gg!
