Red Bull Golden Letters 2024: TEKKEN 8 mayhem

Invitational tournaments have a special atmosphere. Such events as TEKKEN 8 Red Bull Golden Letters 2024 feature thoroughly selected players, so each and every match here is a banger. Also, the organizers pay a lot of attention to introducing these people, showing their real-world personalities. You rarely have such a chance at a huge open tournament with hundreds of participants.

Red Bull Golden Letters 2024 happened from Sept. 28 to Sept. 29. Sixteen players were invited to it, and four qualified for this TEKKEN 8 esports event. Everything about the tournament is here: the stream, schedule, info on the format, a brief introduction of the players, and the final results.

The event consisted of two stages:

All TEKKEN 8 matches at Red Bull Golden Letters 2024 were of the best-of-three format (Bo3). The event had a unique rule of automatically winning a match after achieving three Perfects or Greats in it.

The Group stage matches are in the video below. There were quite a few exciting TEKKEN 8 fights, and you can learn a lot from watching these dedicated players competing for the Playoff qualification.

An interesting thing to notice is that Arslan Ash had difficulties in his group. He lost two out of four matches: to AK and to Kaneandtrench, so Arslan Ash advanced to the losers side. The British player Kaneandtrench looked amazing with his Yoshimitsu, and he completed the Group stage with no losses.

Nino, one of the qualified participants, played Kuma and had no losses in his group too. ULSAN was on his Dragunov, and his results were rather expected. CBM and Yagami finished on the top of Group D, and it was a great result from Yagami, an Australian player.

Here are four groups, players in them, and the final results: numbers of won and lost matches.

This part of the competition started with the winners quarter-finals. The closest match was between AK and Nino — only in the last, decisive round, Shaheen of AK defeated Kuma of Nino.

Four players left the TEKKEN 8 esports tournament after the first set of elimination matches: Yagami, Nino, JDCR, and Shounen. Nino was eliminated due to the event's rule: Tetsu got one Perfect and two Great rounds against him. The second Great was in a round-point situation, so Tetsu would win anyway.

In the winners semi-final, CBM nicely recovered from a lost Round 1 vs Kaneandtrench and won the match with 3:1. ULSAN and AK had an amazingly close fight! The players exchanged rounds, and AK reached the series point first. Still, ULSAN took the match to the decisive round and won it in a very dare situation.

In another super close match, Kaneandtrench eliminated Arslan Ash himself. AK won over Jodd thanks three Perfects — when AK Jodd had the match point.

ULSAN destroyed CBM in the winners final, even if the opponent had some really good rounds. In Game 3, CBM made the reverse sweep dream slightly more real thanks to an amazing comeback in one of the rounds. ULSAN did not let this happen! He won that game with a Time Up.

ULSAN was absolutely unstoppable at this tournament! In the grand final, AK resisted this power nicely, but ULSAN was somewhat better at various crucial moments.

ULSAN is the winner of TEKKEN 8 Red Bull Golden Letters.

A nice variety of characters was showcased at this T8 esports event. Only Speedkicks switched from his usual main, Hwoarang, to Steve, to be relevant in a difficult matchup. All the others were loyal to their TEKKEN 8 fighters.

Dragunov is on the top, but he is also among the top 9-12, so he is not too broken. Yoshimitsu reached the top 4. There are two Nina players in the top 6.

Most players were invited to this event, and only four got their spots via open qualifications: SourPiggy, Nino, Shounen, and Tetsu.
