Tekken 8’s player count already surpassed its predecessor.

Bandai Namco's Tekken 8 was released a week ago on January 26th. It is one of the most anticipated fighting games of all time, with Tekken 8 being the first installment of the Tekken series since nine years. With Tekken booming again worldwide, you might wonder, just how many people are playing Tekken 8 so far?

Tekken 8 player count on Steam nears 50,000

On January 26, Bandai Namco opened its gates for Tekken 8 and a wave of fans flooded the opening. Just one hour after its official launch, the player count for Tekken 8 skyrocketed.

The official platform for Tekken 8 on PC, Steam, recorded a peak of 46,139 players for Tekken 8. This already surpassed the numbers for its predecessor, Tekken 7, by a far mile. Many are expecting the numbers to grow even bigger as Bandai Namco plans to release more content throughout the year. This includes the 1 Year Season Pass and more DLC characters.

Tekken 8, when compared to Tekken 7, has done incredibly well in terms of player count. Tekken 8 sprinted to a near 50,000 in peak player count, meanwhile, Tekken 7 only managed to reach 18,766 in peak players. The playerbase expanded more than twice as much, already planting Tekken 8 as one of the most successful fighting games of all time.

At the time of writing (January 31, 2024), Tekken 8 is currently the seventh best selling video game on Steam. It is also at number 28 in the list of the most played games on Steam. This doesn't take into account the fact that Tekken 8 comes with a costly price tag which makes its success all the more impressive!
