Microsoft is bringing back transparent tech - or at least they are attempting to do so. The tech giant’s latest hardware release is a Blue and White transparent Xbox Controller. Named “Sky Cipher Special Edition,” this controller will launch very soon in August 2024. Here’s what we know so far
Microsoft Transparent Controller
Transparent tech is making a major comeback! We’re introducing an exciting brand-new controller to the Xbox lineup, the Xbox Wireless Controller – Sky Cipher Special Edition. Inspired by the idea of catching a glimpse inside, this innovative controller design offers a peek into the intricate technology that powers your gaming experience. Sky Cipher features a transparent blue design, complemented by metallic features and silver interior parts that shine through from inside, exuding an aura of sophistication and futuristic appeal.
Microsoft says the design allows games to take a peek at the technology that powers their gaming experience. The transparent tech will give players an idea of how things are connected inside and for quite a few gamers, that is very appealing.
While Microsoft has tested the waters with semi-transparent tech previously, this time they have gone full transparent. Previous hardware have included some portions as transparent, but with the Sky Cipher Special Edition, the entire controller is transparent. The entire controller bears a Bluish hint with the rubber grips, the triggers and the D-pad all featuring various hues of blue.
The controller remains similar to previous versions that have been around for quite a few years now. It has 40 hours of battery life as well as a 3.5mm audio jack and USB-C connectivity.
