What’s new in iOS 18?
There’s several new features in the latest iOS version which focus on improved security and enhanced use experience. With efforts into ensuring users can personalize their iPhone experience, the iOS update is a big step forward for tech enthusiasts.
Home Screen Customization
IPhone users can finally position their app icons anywhere on the home screen. A feature that is a common concept for Android users finally makes its way to iOS. This breaks the traditional grid layout and allows users to personalize their home screen. Further, users can also adjust the size and color of app icons personalizing their iPhone experience.
Apple Intelligence
The big addition in iOS 18 is the introduction of Apple Intelligence with generative AI capabilities. Although Apple Intelligence will not be available immediately with the iOS 18 launch, it will roll out in the next patch update - which comes with iOS 18.1. IOS 18.1 will release in October and Apple’s integration with ChatGPT aims to provide users with a seamless experience in interactive with their phones. It would also include features like writing assistance nad notification summaries.
More Security
The new IOS will bring additional security features to combat the ever-changing attempts to steal user data as well as compromise personal safety. It features a dedicated Passwords app which means users no longer have to go to Settings to access Password management. There’s also the ability to lock apps using Face ID for additional security.

When does iOS 18 release?
IOS 18 releases on September 16, 2024. The release date was revealed during the September 9 event.
IOS 18 will be compatible with a range of iPhone devices that have been around for almost seven years. The new operating system’s release date is just days ahead of the iPhone release date which comes out on September 20, 2024.
