Critics of streamer Pokimane and her new cookie brand Myna have seemingly gotten to her, as she lashed out about “broke boys” on stream.
And so the cookie saga continues to crumble all around Imane "Pokimane" Anys. Less than a week removed from the launch of her definitely-not-white-labelled snack brand Myna, the streamer appears to be growing tired of the snack-based spotlight. Pokimane went after her cookie critics during a stream last night in response to the negative reaction of her product and its price.
"Oh my god, 28 dollars for cookies?" the millionaire said flippantly. "It's four bags. That's seven dollars a bag. I know math is hard... When you're an idiot."
I'm pretty sure this is how the Keebler elves advertised their cookies.

Pokimane, Cookie Gate, and critics
As we've seen time and again in streamer culture, the goal isn't to stagnate but to expand your brand into new territory. The most prominent and best example is perhaps Logan Paul and his much-maligned Prime Energy Drink brand--a product featuring enough caffeine to strangle a horse. And while 'streamer food' feels like the absolute entry level for such an endeavor, the launch of Myna has already brought forth criticism.
Anys paints a picture of the so-called free market in action with her response. "If you want to pay eight dollars for Twitter Blue for some pixels, that's okay," she said in defense of Myna. "That's fine! You spend your money how you want. I'll spend mine how I want. And everyone else will spend theirs how they want! That's the beauty."
However, the "you do you" response somewhat loses its appeal when combined with her also saying "I know math is hard when you're an idiot. But, if you're a broke boy, just say so."

In fairness to the streamer, the reaction to her snack announcement was almost immediately negative. Perhaps this is a combination of things. The economy--and food prices--are in utter shambles across the world right now, but especially in the United States. Attempting to sell a seven dollar bag of cookies that contains a little over 4 oz of product may feel like snake oil to some.
Likewise, it feels pretty bad to see someone with an estimated net worth of 25 million dollars--a fortune made off the back of streamer donations and subscriptions--cry wolf over people calling her product expensive.
However, compared to the rest of the market, Pokimane's Myna cookies are priced incredibly high. The standard package of Oreo cookies averages a price of four to five dollars USD. Additionally, that package contains 18 oz of product. Compared to Myna's 4 oz. for seven dollars--in addition to only being purchasable online--and the math is simple, even for "broke boys."
Regardless of Pokimane and her response to cookie critics, the internet has mostly made up its mind. A post on the sub-Reddit /r LiveStreamFail on the topic features over 1,400 comments.
One top-voted comment says "She knows she's being disingenuous by using bag count rather than weight, so I don't know why she's trying to fight that battle rather than ignoring the criticism."
