Ludwig recently raised over $100,000 for the Trevor Project after hearing the news of an avid viewer’s passing.
Charity streams have been common on Twitch and YouTube for quite some time, but nothing beats when a streamer throws together a last-second event to help raise money for important causes. Ludwig, the celebrity YouTube streamer, did just that after hearing the news that a beloved viewer of his had passed recently.
The popular streamer took to his fan base, giving them the opportunity to donate to him during a special stream where all of the money from the donations went back to the Trevor Project.
Ludwig hosts charity stream, donating all funds to Trevor Project after learning about a viewer's passing
Ludwig's charity stream, which raised over $100,000 for the Trevor Project, began after the streamer had gotten news of a viewer's passing.
"A couple of weeks ago, I found out one of my oldest viewers passed away. She started following when I had 100 viewers," said Ludwig on Twitter. "She was super active in chat, funny and helped turn my goofy dream of being a streamer into a full-fledged career. She was also trans, and my community was one of the few places she felt comfortable expressing that in."
The streamer then declared that he would host a charity stream that day, donating all the money to the Trevor Project.
Ludwig then went on to raise $104,000 for the Trevor Project. This is an incredibly impressive and amazing feat, considering he announced the stream the day of. Usually, those hosting charity streams will build it up over the weeks before.
What is the Trevor Project?
The Trevor Project is a non-profit that leads in suicide prevention and crisis intervention for young LGBTQ+ people. The organization was first formed back in 1998 and has been playing a major role in helping those struggling within the LGBTQ+ community.

The organization also provides information and research on the mental health of LGBTQ+ youth and more.
