After 660 backflips, iShowSpeed could not continue.

Popular streamer IShowSpeed's attempt to break the backflipping world record has ended. After 660 backflips, the streamer had to call it quits less than 6 hours before the 24-hour mark. The streamer first hit a roadblock at 461 flips when his "legs gave up" but managed to push further, thanks to a small nap.

"My legs are dead. I'm not giving up. I'm just being mature." - IShowSpeed aborts Backflip Record

The record attempt was first announced on October 7. While the streamer had performed many feats of athleticism in the past, attempting such a monumental record without any training was an incredible risk. To his credit, IShowSpeed started his record attempt well, with 100 backflips performed in just 30 minutes. But eventually, the exhaustion took its toll. After 300+ flips in three hours, the streamer had to take a break. Luckily, Jake Paul had sent over a massage therapist to aid the recovery process.

Owing to his incredible speed, IShowSpeed was still ahead of schedule. But after the 440-flip mark, his legs gave up, leading to a failed flip 441. That attempt appeared to have hurt the streamer, leading to this remark.

"See I knew it, oh f*k that hurt. Oh sht, oh my god no my body can't do it. Oh my god my body, don't do this to me my body. Don't say GGs like that, no this can't be GGs."

"I am taking a huge gamble," - IShowSpeed before his nap

After forcing himself to do a handful of further flips, IShowSpeed could no longer continue. In his view, he either had to forfeit the attempt or take a risky nap. He explained his decision, adding the caveat that he might not be able to jump at all after he wakes back up.

"Chat, I am not going to lie, I am taking a huge gamble right now. When I wake up, and I am just scared when I wake up my legs will be locked."

When IShowSpeed woke up from his nap, he felt better, claiming he could beat the record. And initially, his progress was strong, as he added another 110 flips to his tally quickly. That was followed by another rest, with the massage therapist helping the recovery once more. Eventually, though, no amount of massage or sleep could help Speed out.

At the 14-hour mark, IShowSpeed fell asleep, halting his backflip record attempt again. Many fans expected him to wake up rejuvenated once again, but this time, the streamer was not as optimistic. Ignoring his pain, he pumped out another 50 backflips, but that was it.

"I will be back to beat this world record." - IShowSpeed may try Backflip Record again in the future

After going into recovery for several more hours, IShowSpeed took the pragmatic decision to forfeit the attempt. The streamer said that his legs were dead and he had to be mature about the situation. While some fans may be disappointed, for Speed's safety and health, it was the correct decision. Nevertheless, he ensures his viewers that he wasn't giving up, claiming he'll be back within a month or two to try again. Perhaps this time, he will return with proper training and the involvement of Guinness World Records.
