Members of six teams have tested COVID positive. The Six Invitational starts on Feb 8th.

The Six Invitational 2022 is off to a rough start. Members from multiple teams have tested COVID positive on arrival in Sweden, Ubisoft said in a statement.

We regret to announce that some members of Ninjas in Pyjamas, Elevate, Team Empire, Natus Vincere, Oxygen esports and FURIA esports have tested positive for COVID-19 upon arrival in Sweden.

As per tournament safety protocols, the players will be placed in isolation until they are cleared by a negative test result. The players will compete from their hotel rooms and Ubisoft has ensured the necessary arrangements so that the tournament goes on smoothly.

Will the Six Invitational 2022 take place?

The tournament organizers have taken the necessary steps to ensure the event takes place without any issues. Positive players will be in isolation but will compete from their hotel rooms.

Even though the number of positive cases is alarmingly high, adequate safety measures and protocols should ensure a safe environment for all players. The Six Invitational 2022 is expected to continue as scheduled.

Players will remain in isolation during the entire mandatory period set by the sanitary protocol and until they are cleared by a negative test result. For some of the impacted teams, results of such tests are expected on February 8, before the start of the competition.

Earlier this year, Ubisoft had to shift the Six Invitational 2022 from Canada to Sweden due to the rise in COVID cases and restrictions in Quebec, Canada. They also announced the event would not feature a live audience, a big disappointment to several fans who were looking to watch their favorite players live in action.

Oxygen esports confirmed via their twitter only the coach has tested positive. All the players have tested negative, which means they can play together during the event.
