Pokémon Champions is almost here, but will the game be available on the original Nintendo Switch? Or just the Switch 2?
With Pokémon Champions set to release in just a few days, many Switch players who have yet to acquire a Switch 2 are wondering whether or not the game will be available to play on the original Switch. Here is what we know.
Pokémon Champions Switch compatibility
For those who currently only own the original Switch, you will be excited to know that, yes, Pokémon Champions will be available to play on the original Switch. While the game will certainly run much better on the Switch 2, this is great news for those who have not yet acquired the funds to purchase a Switch 2, making the game much more accessible.

Better yet, Pokémon Champions will also be playable on mobile later this year, making the game accessible to almost anyone.
While the game has been declared to have micro-transactions, it will be free-to-play for those not wishing to spend any money. Some consider it a “free-to-start” game, as there could be a pay-to-win aspect in the game. At the moment, we will just have to wait and see.
