The GO Pass is back in Pokémon GO, but not everyone has the same rewards

The GO Pass is back for a test in selected regions.

Niantic have brought the GO Pass back to Pokémon GO, with a test taking place in selected regions across the month. This concept, basically a Pokémon GO Battle Pass, was first seen across the Unova Tour event. This was a popular concept, giving players old and new something to grind towards and hand out rewards.

It seemed inevitable that the Pass would return in some shape or form. Now, we know that Niantic are testing the Pass out across April. Not everyone has access to the Pass, and some Trainers are seeing different versions of the GO Pass too.

Here is everything you need to know about it - including seeing all possible versions during the test.

Different Trainers will see different versions of the Pokémon GO Pass

There are a variety of different GO Pass versions. Some award PokéCoins, some have more levels or less levels. These are being shown to different Trainers with lots of versions knocking around. This is being done to determine the best Pass type, price and mechanics for the worldwide release. This impacts both the GO Pass and then optional paid GO Pass Deluxe.

Trainers might see:

  • An additional encounter on certain ranks of the GO Pass Deluxe
  • Modified item rewards on certain ranks of the GO Pass Deluxe
  • Stickers as a reward on certain ranks of the GO Pass and GO Pass Deluxe
  • PokéCoins as a reward on certain ranks of the GO Pass
  • Fewer overall ranks of the GO Pass and GO Pass Deluxe

While it might be confusing if you have different rewards to your friends, this won't be the case forever. After all, this is a test for the future to ensure everyone has the best experience moving forward. Luckily, all the Paid passes lead to the Lucky Trinket and all the free GO Pass versions have a Xerneas encounter.

Bonuses avaliable

There are also bonuses avaliable this month across all versions. They are as follows:

  • Tier 1: 2× Daily Adventure Incense duration
  • Tier 2: Increased XP and Stardust from Research Breakthrough rewards
  • Tier 3: Increased Stardust and XP from hatching Eggs

Double Daily Adventure Incense duration is really exciting for those of you chasing Shiny Galarian Birds.

Check out what your GO Tour Pass contains, and good luck grinding through those levels this month. Stay tuned to esports.gg for the latest esports news and more Pokémon GO updates.
