Chase the brand new shiny Stakataka in Pokémon GO with our Raid Guide.

Stakataka is back in Pokémon GO in five-star raids from April 9 until April 21. We haven’t seen this Pokémon since Pokémon GO Fest, so this is still a Pokémon that we haven’t had many chances to encounter. This will also be the shiny debut for this Stakataka.

Stakataka will only be available to Trainers in the Eastern Hemisphere. Otherwise, you’ll need a Remote Raid pass. Blacephalon will be in Raids in the Western Hemisphere at the same time.

Sadly, Stakataka is not one of the most powerful Pokémon the game has ever seen. However, this is a brand new shiny debut, so you’ll want to try and do a raid for the Pokédex entry at least. Plus, there are always bonuses and rewards from winning Raids.

Here is everything you need to take on Stakataka in Pokémon GO.

Best Stakataka counters in Pokémon GO:

Stakataka has a 2x weakness to Fighting and Ground-type attacks, and a single weakness to Water-type attacks. It has a 3x Resistance to Poison-type attacks, a 2x Resistance to Flying and Normal-type attacks and then a host of other single resistances.

Sadly for Stakataka, having not one but two 2x weaknesses makes this an incredibly easy Raid to win. Here are the best Pokémon to use to take down Stakataka:

Mega LucarioForce Palm & Aura Sphere
Primal GroudonMud Shot & Precipice Blades
Mega GarchompMud Shot & Earth Power
Mega HeracrossCounter & Close Combat
Mega BlazikenCounter & Focus Blast
TerrakionDouble Kick & Sacred Sword
KeldeoLow Kick & Sacred Sword
Therian Forme LandorusMud Shot & Sandsear Storm
LucarioCounter & Aura Sphere
Mega SwampertMud Shot & Earthquake
Mega AlakazamCounter & Focus Blast
ConkeldurrCounter & Dynamic Punch

There are some really powerful Pokémon avaliable to trainers wanting to take on Stakataka. Primal Groudon is a really good choice, with very powerful Ground-type moves. Additionally, we didn’t have Mega Lucario the last time this Pokémon was avaliable, but now we do, it is also a really strong option.

Of course, any of the Mega Pokémon are also good options in their non Primal/Mega forms.

In terms of availability, lots of the good Stakataka counters have been in Pokémon GO rotation recently. Groudon, Garchomp and Heracross have been in the game recently, with Mega Heracross appearing in a Raid Day soon. Therian Landorus, Conkeldurr and Terrakion also all appeared during the Unova Tour event and build-up Raid Days.

Just be aware that you’ll need an Elite Fast TM to teach Counter to Mega Alakazam if you want to use that Pokémon.

Can Stakataka be shiny in Pokémon GO?

Yes, for the first time ever in Pokémon GO, Stakataka can be shiny after your Raid.

Mega Evolutions to get you more Stakataka candy in Pokémon GO

Mega Evolutions can help you get more candy and XL candy with every catch. Having a mega level 3 active that boosts candy for Rock and Steel-types will give you an extra 2 candy per catch, as well as a 25% bonus to your XL candy chance.

Here are the Pokémon you can Mega Evolve to get more Stakataka Candy in Pokémon GO:

  • Aerodactyl
  • Steelix
  • Tyranitar
  • Scizor
  • Diancie
  • Aggron

How many trainers do I need to beat Stakataka in Pokémon GO?

With two 2x weaknesses, Stakataka is a pretty easy Pokémon to take down. Two trainers using Primal Groudon, with Party Power, may be able to take down this Raid together.

However, for a general rule of thumb, a group of three to four high level Trainers will be safe. For lower level Trainers or those without ideal counters, aim for six and above.

What is the Stakataka Pokémon GO 100% IV hundo CP?

Getting a hundo of any Pokémon is always exciting in Pokémon GO. But, to get it when a Pokémon debuts makes it a very rare item for your collection. Here are the hundo CP values to keep an eye out for after your Raid:

  • 1882 CP
  • 2353 CP (Weather boosted)

Weather Effects:

Weather boost can help you save candy, get better IVs and benefit from power boosts on your team. Here are the weather effects to keep an eye on when taking on these raids.
