Get ready to take on Shadow Ho-Oh on a special Shadow Raid Day.

Shadow Ho-Oh is coming back to Pokémon GO in a Shadow Raid Day event. This follows the Shadow Lugia event that took place in August 2023. This powerful Fire and Flying-type Pokémon is a very good Raid Attacker. While we aren't getting the stronger Apex form of Shadow Ho-Oh, which is a little bit of a shame, this is still an excellent Raid Day in Pokémon GO.

So, here are all the details about the upcoming Shadow Ho-Oh Raid Day.

Shadow Ho-Oh Pokémon GO Raid Day

The Shadow Ho-Oh Raid Day will take place on Sunday, January 19, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time.

Event Bonuses

The following bonuses will be in effect during Shadow Ho-Oh Raid Day:

  • Up to five additional free Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs (for a total of seven).
  • Increased chance of encountering Shiny Ho-Oh from Shadow Raids.

During the event, Sacred Fire, which is usually locked behind an Elite TM will be avaliable through Charged TM. It's damage is as follows:

  • Trainer Battles: 130 power
  • Gyms and raids: 120 power

Shadow Ho-Oh Raid Day Pokémon GO Event Ticket

As is often the case for a Raid Day event in Pokémon GO, there will be an Event Ticket avaliable for purchase. This will cost $5 (or local equivalent) and include the following bonuses:

  • Eight additional Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs (for a daily total of 15)
  • Increased chance to get Rare Candy XL from Raid Battles
  • 50% more XP from Raid Battles
  • 2× Stardust from Raid Battles

You will also be able to get the Ticket from the Pokémon GO Web Store for the same price, and it will include one bonus Premium Battle Pass as a reward.

This ticket does represent good value thanks to the huge amount of additional Raid Passes and increased Rare Candy XL chances. Raid Passes are expensive in Pokémon GO, and Rare Candy XL is the single most powerful resource you can stack up.

These bonuses are advertised to last from 2:00 p.m. until 10 p.m. local time. That usually means they apply to any Remote Raids you choose to do. However, you cannot join Shadow Raids remotely. That said, any Raids you do after 5 p.m. local time will benefit from the bonuses listed above, if you fancy staying out.
