Pokémon just gave us a new teaser image for the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A game, and it is a bit unhinged.

Pokémon is prepping up for some big releases, one of those being Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which is the next title in the Legends series. However, the Pokémon Company has decided to take things to an absolutely new (and darker) level with a teaser image they posted just days before a YouTube broadcast directed towards the upcoming Legends game.

Pokémon releases new teaser image ahead of YouTube broadcast for Pokémon Legends: Z-A

It is no secret that the Pokémon Legends series is much different than anything else the franchise has ever done. The first game, Arceus, took place decades before the events of Diamond and Pearl and gave us a look at an uninhabited Sinnoh.

And now, Pokémon Legends: Z-A is giving us a first look at what the Kalos region looked like before Lumiose City was fully constructed.

In the game's new teaser, Pokémon posted a photo that shows a fence, which has been ripped open, and a purple goo coating the opening. It looks almost as if it is supposed to be acid. What's even creepier is that the photo is a first-person look, giving fans a very realistic found-footage/Resident Evil vibe.

So, what does this mean?

Is Pokémon hinting at a new Mega Evolution?

The new teaser image is blowing up within the Pokémon community, as many are simply confused as to what it means. Some fans, however, believe this is a hint at a new Mega Evolution, which will be in the upcoming game.

However, Pokémon plans to give us an actual look at what this teaser is hinting at this Thursday, August 21, 2025.

In their Twitter post, Pokémon announced there will be an official YouTube Premiere at 6:00 AM PDT. They also ended the Tweet by saying, "Viewer discretion is advised."

So, what in the world could Pokémon, a game known for being E-rated, be doing that it has to offer a "Viewer discretion is advised" warning? Well, we will have to wait until Thursday to see.
