Get ready to celebrate the arrival of 2025 in Pokémon GO.
The end of the year is always a time for celebration, and Pokémon GO is no exception. You can see in the new year with the New Years 2025 event in Pokémon GO. The event will feature a nice XP bonus, as well as the return of more costumed Pokémon.
This event follows on from the Holiday Part 1 and Part 2 event, which present Trainers a whole host of costumed Pokémon and bonuses to see out 2024.
Pokémon GO New Year 2025 event
The New Year 2025 event runs from Monday, December 30, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. to Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. local time.
Event bonuses
- 2,025 XP for catching Pokémon with Excellent Throws.
New map decor
During the event, the skies across Pokémon GO will be lit up with fireworks. This will make in-game celebrations feel just as exciting as those you might be having out of game too. Thankfully there won't be any loud bangs!
Pokémon GO New Year 2025 event wild spawns
The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild. You’ll also have an increased chance to encounter a Shiny one!
- Jigglypuff wearing a ribbon
- Hoothoot wearing a New Year’s outfit
- Wurmple wearing a party hat
Niantic don't publish just how boosted the shiny odds for these three Pokémon will be. However, with the event only lasting for three days, we could see odds of about 1/128.

The Paid Timed Research will include the following:
- Three Premium Battle Passes
- Three Lucky Eggs
- 2,025 Stardust
- Event-themed Pokémon encounters, including Pikachu wearing a snowflake beanie, Raticate wearing a party hat, Wobbuffet wearing a party hat, and more.
