Pokémon GO juse introduced Super Mega Raids, a new type of raid that puts players up against enraged Mega Pokémon.

Only a day before the official Pokémon GO Tour: Kalos begins, the popular mobile game has introduced a new style of raid called, Super Mega Raids. Here is everything we know about Super Mega Raids, including what they are and how to participate.

What are Super Mega Raids in Pokémon GO?

Pokémon GO officially announced Super Mega Raids, which are in the game as of now (February 19, 2026). This is exactly one day before the Kalos tour begins, pulling in quite a few players ahead of the event.

So, what are Super Mega Raids in Pokémon GO? These are raids that require players to battle and (hopefully) catch a Mega Evolved Pokémon that has become enraged. These Pokémon are much more powerful than their normal form, which means players have an opportunity to really beef up their main team.

Raids will require at least seven other participants, and will also require people to have Mega Evolved Pokémon. The opposing Pokémon will raise its shields at the beginning, making it only possible to defeat with other Mega Evolved Pokémon.

These raids will produce higher rewards than standard Mega Raids, including extra Mega Energy.

How to participate

To participate in Super Mega Raids in Pokémon GO, players first have to acquire Link Charges, which can be used to join Mega Raids and Super Mega Raids. Link Charges are available for purchase within the app, but can also be acquired by completing free Weekly Quests and more.

You can also join Super Mega Raids if you have a Premium Battle Pass which costs $9.99 USD a month.

The game is making it easy for those who do not want to spend money to still participate in these awesome raids, and with the Pokémon GO Tour: Kalos about to begin, being stocked on Link Charges is a smart move.
