It’s officially spooky season in Pokémon GO.
The Pokémon GO Halloween 2024 Part 1 event will debut both Morpeko and Dynamax Ghastly into the game. The event runs from Tuesday, October 22 at 10am local time until Monday, October 28 at 10am local time.
The event is the first of two Halloween themed events this year, with the second coming immediately afterwards. Stay tuned for more details about that.
Here's everything that the first part of the Pokémon GO Halloween 2024 event has in store.
Pokémon GO Halloween 2024 event debuts Morpeko
Morpeko will make its Pokémon GO debut. Morpeko brings with it a whole new mechanic in Pokémon GO, the abolity to change form in battle. This unleashes all new possibilities for battling in Pokémon GO.
Initially, Morpeko will only be able to change forms when battling Team GO Rocket or in the GO Battle League.
Morpeko Featured Attack
Aura Wheel (Electric):
Morpeko will know the Charged Attack Aura Wheel (Electric) while it is in Full Belly Mode.
Aura Wheel (Electric)
Trainer Battles: 100 power, increases the user’s Attack by one stage
Aura Wheel (Dark):
Morpeko will know the Charged Attack Aura Wheel (Dark) while it is in Hangry Mode.

Morpeko will be a featured reward for the GO Battle League
Starting with the Pokémon GO Halloween 2024 Part 1 event you can find Morpeko in reward encounters in GO Battle League. Then, during the event, Morpeko will be encountered more frequently in the premium track of the GO Battle League.
After the event, starting at Rank 16 in the GO Battle League, Morpeko will be encountered in both GO Battle League reward tracks, but more frequently in the premium track.
Pokémon GO Halloween 2024 Part 1 Max Battles debuts Dynamax Ghastly
Dynamax Gastly will make its Pokémon GO Dynamax debut in one-star Max Battles!
The following Pokémon will appear in Max Battles.
One-Star Max Battles:
- Gastly*
- Grookey
- Scorbunny
- Sobble
Three-Star Max Battles:
- Falinks
Pokémon caught from Max Battle encounters, as well as their Evolutions, can be Dynamaxed during Max Battles.
Pokémon GO Halloween 2024 Part 1 Event Bonuses
- 2× Candy for catching Pokémon.
- Increased chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive Candy XL for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws or better.
- Increased chance to encounter Shiny Umbreon in raids and Shiny Zorua in the wild.

Paid Timed Research
There will be not one but two separate Timed Research tickets during the Pokémon GO Halloween 2024 Part 1 event.
The first will cost $5 and will include the following:
- 3× Catch Candy
- Event-themed Pokémon encounters, including the first peek at new costumed Pokémon debuting in Part II of the event—Froakie wearing a Pokémon Halloween costume and Rowlet wearing a Pokémon Halloween costume.
- Event-themed Pokémon encounters, including Pikachu wearing a witch hat, Spiritomb, and Morpeko.
- A new avatar item depending on your choice—Morpeko Onesie (Full Belly Mode) or Morpeko Onesie (Hangry Mode).
The second will cost $2 and will include:
- Pikachu wearing a witch hat*
- Vulpix wearing a Spooky Festival costume*
- Gengar wearing a Spooky Festival costume*
- Piplup wearing a Halloween Mischief costume*
- Drifblim wearing a Halloween Mischief costume*
- Froakie wearing a Pokémon Halloween costume*
- Pumpkaboo wearing a Spooky Festival costume*
- Rowlet wearing a Pokémon Halloween costume*
Both of these Timed Research Tasks will expire on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. local time.
Other event details
There are also a few other things to enjoy during this event, Pokémon encounter backgrounds, PokéStops, and Gyms will be decorated for the holiday during both parts of the Halloween event. There will also be a remix of the Lavender Town music playing nightly during this year’s Halloween event.
