Pokémon Go players couldn’t contain their excitement when they encountered Kyurem’s different forms as rewards for the Go Battle League. However, Niantic has confirmed this was unintended and have removed the legendary duo from the game.

Christmas came early for Pokémon Go players. Or so they thought when some of them encountered Kyurem's Black and White variants in the game. Niantic didn't reveal any news about these two gorgeous legendaries being added to the game. So obviously, the players who came across them were as surprised as they were excited. Turns out, this wasn't intended.

Niantic revealed later in a Tweet that these Pokémon weren't meant to be in the game yet and accidentally added them in. Intentional or not, everyone knows these Pokémon are in the game files. Now that they're leaked, they're likely coming to the game sooner rather than later.

What are Kyurem's Black and White forms in Pokémon Go?

Canonically, Kyurem has the ability to fuse with either Zekrom or Reshiram to become a newer, stronger Pokémon. When it fuses with Zekrom, it turns into Black Kyurem and it resembles both Zekrom and Kyurem, retaining certain parts of their body. Black Kyurem is a Dragon and Ice type Pokémon, just like the regular Pokémon and bulkier than both Zekrom and Kyurem.

When Kyurem fuses with Reshiram, it becomes White Kyurem. White Kyurem has features from Reshiram and Kyurem while having the ability to learn not just Ice and Dragon type abilities, but also Fire type abilities.

It is unclear whether or not Pokémon Go will add the fusion process to create Black and White Kyurem in the game. The recent accident was not the result of any such fusion, but Pokémon Go accidentally releasing them as rewards for the Pokémon Go Battle League quests.

Can we still get Black Kyurem and White Kyurem?

Unfortunately, Niantic confirmed that the Legendary duo were added to the game accidentally. Niantic noted that they were being given as rewards in the Go Battle League. They got removed from the game and they are no longer in anyone's Pokémon lists. However, it probably won't be long before Niantic adds them to it.

Much to everyone's disappointment, Kyurem's Black and White forms were a mistake that Niantic corrected. So if you're scrambling to participate in the Go Battle League and get them as rewards, don't do it. The rewards were replaced.
