A first for Pokémon GO and a first for NiteTimeClasher.

Competitive Pokémon GO history has been made by NiteTimeClasher, as he becomes the first ever Pokémon GO player to be signed by an esports team. Eric "NiteTimeClasher" Wang was officially announced as Luminosity Gaming player ahead of last weekends Vancouver Regional Championships.

NiteTimeClasher is one of the most recognisable Pokémon GO competitors. The American also has worked as a commentator while also being a very successful competitor.

Luminosity do have form in Pokémon. They are one of a few organizations to have signed a Pokémon UNITE team. Their foray into Pokémon GO could encourage other esports teams to consider signing some of the games other stars.

Who is Pokémon GO player NiteTimeClasher?

NiteTimeClasher has had a lot of success across the last few years of Pokémon GO competition. He won the 204 Liverpool Regional Championships, finished 3rd at the 2025 Louisville Regional Championships and consistently finds himself in the latter stages of competition. He was the top finishing American at the recent EUIC event in London, which is perhaps what caught the eye of Luminosity. This was a huge improvement from 2024's EUIC, where he finished 33rd-48th.

His most recent performance was a 5th/6th place finish at the recent Vancouver Regional Championships, which was his debut representing Luminosity. A solid start in his new colors.

He is a seasoned esports competitor, first competing in Clash Royale eight years ago while still in middle-school, and is a more than worthy holder of the title of first ever signed Pokémon GO player. This was a sign of things to come for NiteTimeClasher, with a very respectable 7th-8th time finish on his debut.

NiteTimeClasher also offers coaching, with players of any skill level able to book a session with Luminosity's latest addition. He boasts that "I've helped students make t16 at regionals, qualify for worlds, and reach leader boards on GBL. With my coaching, anyone can do it!"

Now with Luminosity, NiteTimeClasher will be working towards Pokémon GO events in Atlanta and Stockholm before turning his attention to Pokémon Worlds.
