Charizard fans have something to celebrate once again, as one of its Mega Evolutions takes the spotlight in an upcoming Pokémon TCG set.
A new Pokémon TCG set with the name Inferno X will hit card shops in Japan on Sep. 26, 2025. The set features Mega Charizard X, which coincides with the Pokémon Presents announcement that Mega Pokémon will return to the franchise’s card game this year.
Although no sample cards have leaked yet, collectors have previously treasured Mega Charizard in Pokémon TCG, with both its X and Y forms appearing in popular sets like Flashfire, Generations, and Evolutions.

Like the other Mega Pokémon cards that came before it, it’s highly probable that the new Mega Charizard card can find its way to the various Standard meta decks. Mega Pokémon are extremely powerful, with moves that can deal at least 200 damage and HPs that can reach as high as 300.
Mega Charizard X might not be the only Mega Pokémon card in Inferno X, since recent trends in the Pokémon TCG franchise hint at the return of other fan-favorite Mega Evolutions that haven’t appeared in years.

Rumors among the Pokémon community suggest that Inferno X’s English cards could launch in November, indicating it may be one of the final sets released in 2025. Take this information with a grain of salt, as The Pokémon Company didn’t have any news about the set’s English cards at the moment.
Before the new Mega Charizard cards, the franchise is planning to drop the Mega Brave and Mega Symphonia sets first. There’s no telling yet if these sets will be another dual release like Black Bolt and White Flare, but fans should keep an eye out for official announcements in the coming months.
