Take on Fighting-type Raid bosses during a special Raid Day in Pokémon GO.
We finally have details about what to expect with the Sparring Partners Raid Day in Pokémon GO. There has been a lot of speculation about what could feature after the event was listed as part of the April Content graphic released.
Some speculated we might see Keldeo return to the game. Or perhaps even something to do with Kubfu and its evolutions. Sadly, as cool as these would have been, this is not the case. However, this Raid Day has bonuses to dive into which can help you level up.
Here are all the event details you need to know:
There will be three featured Pokémon
The Sparring Partners Raid Day will see three featured Pokémon, which is different to our usual Raid Day mechanic in Pokémon GO. Two of these will just be standard Pokémon, with the third a Mega Evolution.
They are:
New featured move
Now, we can't say that these are the most exciting Pokémon to ever be featured. They have all appeared before, and Scraggy and Hariyama have been in the game a lot as a Wild Spawn.
That said, all three featured Pokémon will be able to learn the Charged Attack Upper Hand from the event and continuing afterwards. However, this move will not be exclusive to the event so previously caught Pokémon can learn it with a standard TM.

Sparring Partners Raid Day Pokémon GO Event Bonuses
The following bonuses will be active during the Sparring Partners Raid Day:
- Remote Raid Pass limit will increase to 20 from Saturday, April 12, at 5:00 p.m. to Sunday, April 13, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. PDT.
- Receive up to five additional free Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs (for a total of six).
- Increased chance of encountering Shiny Heracross, Hariyama, and Scraggy from Raids.
There will also be a free Timed Research avaliable during the event, which will grant even more bonuses, including:
- 10,000 Stardust
- 1,000 additional Stardust for completing a Raid Battle for a total of 2,000 Stardust (3,000 Stardust with the event ticket)
Sparring Partners Raid Day Pokémon GO Event ticket
There will also be the usual event ticket for this Raid Day. This is priced at $5 and grants the following additional bonuses:
- Eight additional Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs (for a daily total of 14)
- Increased chance to get Rare Candy XL from Raid Battles
- 50% more XP from Raid Battles
- 2× Stardust from Raid Battles
These bonuses will be effective on Sunday, April 13, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time.
