This destination is a must-visit for Pokémon fans heading to Japan!

PokéPark Kanto, the franchise’s first permanent outdoor attraction, will welcome its visitors in early 2026, as announced during the latest Pokémon Presents livestream.

Situated inside the Yomiuriland amusement park in Inagi, Tokyo, Japan, these 26,000 square meters of land will be divided into two main sections: Sedge Town and the Pokémon Forest.

Junichi Masuda, one of the founders of Game Freak and the one behind many of the Pokémon games’ nostalgic music, gave the thorough description about their goals and intentions behind constructing the PokéPark Kanto:

"We want to broaden people’s idea of how Pokémon live and interact with one another by letting them experience a world with Pokémon in it. A place where we can tell visitors, “Welcome to the world of Pokémon!"

Based on the diorama presented in Pokémon Presents, PokéPark’s Sedge Town will serve as a settlement for humans and Pokémon to gather and contains some amusement rides, a Pokémon Center, a Poké Mart, a Gym, a field for Pokémon battles, shops, and other buildings. Visitors will surely find lots of spots where they can take Instagrammable photos!

On the other side of PokéPark lies the Pokémon Forest, which covers a place that replicates the natural habitats of different Pokémon species. Once inside, visitors are free to explore various terrains and discover life-sized Pokémon that live wherever they should be, even underground.

Despite the word Kanto, the attraction will also host Pokémon from other regions. It was named as PokéPark Kanto to reiterate its permanent location in Tokyo, which is part of Japan’s Kanto region. In other words, this won’t be the same as other Pokémon attractions like the PokéPark (now closed) and Pokémon Fossil Museum, which were temporary touring exhibits that traveled from place to place.

PokéPark Kanto opening date

The exact schedule of PokéPark Kanto’s grand opening is still being planned, but as already mentioned, it’s likely around the first quarter of 2026.

However, tickets for the attraction will become readily available before the end of 2025, so we might soon get an announcement about its actual opening date a few months from now.
