Get ready to save Shadow Giratina in Pokémon GO.
Team GO Rocket are back with another Pokémon GO takeover, and Trainers will need to save Shadow Giratina from Giovanni.
A takeover event always shakes up Pokémon GO, changing the rotations for Arlo, Cliff, Sierra and Giovanni as well as all the Team GO Rocket Grunts. We also get some brand new Shadow Pokémon as well.
However, this time, there is something extra special coming to the game. During this takeover event Shadow Kyogre will appear in Raids for the first time, with the shiny also avaliable!
Pokémon GO Delightful Days: Taken over
The next Team GO Rocket takeover event in Pokémon GO runs from Monday, August 11, at 12:00 a.m. to Sunday, August 17, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. local time.
The event will have the following bonuses:
- Team GO Rocket will appear more frequently at PokéStops and in balloons.
- You can use a Charged TM to help a Shadow Pokémon forget the Charged Attack Frustration.
- Pokémon caught via one-star and three-star Shadow Raids during the event will have a wider variance of Attack, Defense, and HP.
- For the first time in Pokémon GO, you might even hatch Shiny Salandit—if you’re lucky!

Save Shadow Giratina and Raid for Shadow Kyogre in Pokémon GO
From the start of the event, using a Super Rocket Radar and battling Giovanni will lead to the chance to catch Shadow Giratina. Giratina is a very good Raid attacker, and this should be a really powerful addition to the game.
In addition, Shadow Kyogre will be in five-star Shadow Raids from Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 6:00 a.m. to Sunday, August 17, 2025, at 10:00 p.m local time. You'll get an extra free Raid Pass each day during this period too.

Grubbin, when evolved, in the shadow form could have some really interesting application for PvP!
