The bespectacled Bug type from Generation 8 finally makes its debut in Pokémon GO for the Bug Out Event, along with other insect mon spawns.

For the 2026 Bug Out Event, Pokémon GO will introduce Blipbug, an often overlooked Bug Pokémon discovered in the Galar region. The event will also add other Pokémon from its evolution line, namely the shell-loving Dottler and the extremely intelligent Orbeetle.

Aside from the debut of new Pokémon, this year’s Bug Out event brings a range of bonuses, largely centered on boosted spawns from a wide variety of Bug-type species, making it the perfect opportunity for players looking to expand their Pokédex.

For this post, we’ll give you all the information about Pokémon GO’s Bug Out Event, especially on how to catch the new Blipbug Pokémon, as well as the list of wild spawns and available raid encounters.

How to get Blipbug in Pokémon GO

For its debut event, Blipbug is only capturable in One-Star Raids and rewards from the Bug Out Event’s GO Pass. As long as the Bug Out Event is active, you can find any nearby gyms for a One-Star Raid, and you should find a raid battle with a Blipbug.

As a One-Star Raid Pokémon, Blipbug should be pretty easy to take down alone, and as a Bug type, it’s weak to Fire-, Flying-, and Rock-type moves. Feel free to use any of your high-CP Pokémon who can perform any of Blipbug’s move weaknesses during the raid.

After beating a Blipbug raid, you will have a chance to capture that Blipbug. A Hundo Blipbug will have 204 CP, but during Rainy weather, the Hundo variant will have a boosted CP of 256.

Obtaining Dottler and Orbeetle

To register a Dottler and Orbeetle to your Pokédex, you need to spend 25 Blipbug Candy on a Blipbug to turn it into a Dottler and 100 Blipbug Candy on a Dottler to evolve it into an Orbeetle.

Unfortunately, Blipbug, Dottler, and Orbeetle’s Shiny forms won’t be available for the 2026 Bug Out Event. No matter how many times you beat a One-Star Raid, you’ll always encounter a regular version of Blipbug.

Bug Out Event in Pokémon GO: Schedule, limited-time bonuses, and more

The Bug Out Event will become active for seven days, from 10:00 a.m. on March 17, 2026, to 8:00 p.m. on March 23, 2026. The event’s schedule will happen in your local time.

Throughout the event, these bonuses will stay active:

  • Using Lure Modules at a PokéStop will attract various Pokémon species.
  • All Paras, Combee, and Cutiefly that spawned from a PokéStop with a Lure Module will have boosted Shiny odds.

Wild Spawns

Here are the Pokémon that you can encounter in your surroundings during the Bug Out Event:

Raid Battles

For the Raid Battles, you can encounter and capture the following Bug types:

If you’re planning to join in raids during this event, Mega Rayquaza (or even its non-mega form) will become quite handy, as it’s currently the best Flying-type attacker in raids. Other viable choices are strong Fire types like Mega Charizard Y and Mega Blaziken.

But for Kleavor, you’ll have to use a variety of Steel-types, ideally the Crowned forms of Zacian and Zamazenta.

2026 Bug Out Event’s GO Passes

Like the previous events, the Bug Out Event will feature a free GO Pass where you can earn points and unlock tiers of rewards. The free GO Pass will only work throughout the event’s duration, and the most ideal goodies are encounters with a Durant at Rank 21, Scizor at Rank 22, and Shedninja at Rank 60.

You can further maximize the rewards you’ll get from the GO Pass by purchasing the $5.00 GO Pass Deluxe or the $7.00 GO Pass Deluxe+, which unlock a Dottler encounter at Rank 30, Kleavor at Rank 22, and an additional Shedninja at Rank 60.

To make your way through the GO Pass ranks much quicker, try to join as many raids as you can, as even a solo One-Star raid will give you 100 points, which basically increases your rank by one.
