The Overwatch Classic Moth Meta event is separate from the Overwatch 2 6v6 one.
Overwatch 2 Season 14 is full of content such as new skins, Winter Wonderland's return, the arrival of Hazard, an Avatar: The Last Airbender crossover, and more. Overwatch 2 six-versus-six (6v6) is also happening in Season 14 alongside the Moth Meta event.
Overwatch 2 6v6 in Season 14
In Overwatch 2 Season 14, players can enter the 6v6 Role Queue event. This involves a 2-2-2 setup of two tanks, damage heroes, plus supports. Based on the official Season 14 trailer on Dec. 5, it appears that new tank hero Hazard can join this limited-time 6v6 game mode.
Overwatch Classic Moth Meta event
The official Season 14 trailer also implied that the Moth Meta event is separate from the Overwatch 2 6v6 one. This is because Blizzard announced the Moth Meta and 6v6 experimental mode in separate parts of the video. You can take a look at the trailer below and see for yourself.

Overwatch 2 6v6 release date
According to Blizzard, the 6v6 Role Queue event kicks off on Dec. 17 and runs until Jan. 6. However, just based on our own past experience with game updates, it's likely Jan. 7 on Tuesday. Therefore, players have plenty of time during the holiday season to check out the 6v6 game mode.
Note that this isn't Overwatch 2's first 6v6 event. Just recently, we duked it out in teams of six players in the Overwatch Classic No Hero Limits and Overwatch Classic Single Hero Limits game modes. Plus, due to overwhelming demand, the No Hero Limits version even received an extension.
More 6v6 in Overwatch 2 Season 14?
On Oct. 24, game director Aaron Keller announced two 6v6 tests for Season 14. He stated that the first test launches a week into the season. He referred to this as “Min 1, Max 3." Keller then wrote that the Season 14 midcycle involves the "the classic 2-2-2 composition."
Given the Overwatch 2 6v6 Role Queue release date of Dec. 17, which is also a week into Season 14, it's possible that the date changed for it. However, Keller did also state that there are "multiple 6v6 tests in Season 14," implying more than two tests.
