Team Peps’ tank player, Willys07, sat down with esports.gg to talk about his Overwatch 2 esports journey. OWCS World Finals 2025 is just the beginning of the team’s underdog story and rise to glory.

The 2025 Overwatch Champions Series (OWCS) World Finals is happening now at DreamHack Stockholm, and only the top teams are featured on the grand stage of the Stockholmsmässan venue. Among the top players that made it to DreamHack Stockholm is William "Willys07" Ersson from Team Peps. Esports.gg sat down with Willys07 for an interview about his journey to OWCS World Finals 2025, the DreamHack Stockholm crowd, and what's next for him.

Willys07 interview at OWCS World Finals 2025

In his interview with esports.gg, Willys07 shared that he's been a fan of the Overwatch franchise and its esports scene since he was little. He recalled playing the game as Junkrat for the first time at his friend's house. It was also around the time when Moira got released. Later, he watched tank players like Kang "Void" Jun-woo duke it out in the Overwatch League (OWL). In 2024, he found himself watching matches at DreamHack Stockholm and wished he could be on that stage as well. Fast forward to OWCS World Finals 2025, where Willys07 made it to the stage in his debut year under the Team Peps flag.

"Last year, I looked up at the stage [and] I was like, 'I really want to play on that stage.' And then I committed myself a lot to playing and becoming better," Willys07 said. "And as a result, I ended up on the stage."

In terms of what it took to get on the OWCS World Finals 2025 stage, Willys07 told esports.gg that it required a lot of time and dedication to the game. For example, after school, he would spend about 7 hours practicing and doing video on demand (VOD) reviews.

"An average day would be like school from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and then scrims from maybe 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. And some days, maybe a little bit less or a little bit more. And VOD reviews after that. So basically, Overwatch takes up half my day and school takes up the other half," he said.

Willys07's Overwatch 2 esports journey

In his debut year, Willys07 achieved many victories, including those within the FACEIT League. Although Team Peps didn't advance further after the match against Team Liquid at DreamHack Stockholm 2025, he felt that the team demonstrated real potential and growth. The support from the Overwatch 2 community also fueled them to become even stronger in the future.

"My parents were here earlier, so [I got] a lot of support from them. And then also the Peps crowd. It was actually an insane crowd. I was on stage playing, and I just heard them cheering," he said. "It gives me so much energy and gives the team so much energy. It just makes me happy. Even [though] we lost the mapping against Liquid, I watched it back on Twitter, and they were cheering even more. It's insane. Even if we lose, I feel like we can still win. And I feel like that's what makes the Peps community so good."

Willys07 also attributed Team Peps' success to the lack of ego.

"I feel like a big difference between us and other teams is that we don't really have an ego," he told esports.gg. "If we play it better as a team, we will win the game. So it's really important because I think a lot of underdog teams -- they have one star player, and if that person gets an ego, it's over. You can't play as a team anymore. So we just need to keep our ego down and keep playing as a team."

As for parting words, Willys07 thanked everyone who believes in Team Peps.

"I just want to say thank you for all the cheers and the belief in us as a team. We know we are an underdog team and that we might not get the best results, but I can guarantee that in the future, we will keep improving, and we'll show you better results because we're working to reach those goals, and I'm hoping you can see it."
