Crazy Raccoon players win OWCS Dallas Major Grand Final: Results and interview

The Overwatch Champion Series (OWCS) Grand Final has concluded at DreamHack Dallas 2024 with Crazy Raccoon players taking home the gold! Read on for the Team Falcons vs Crazy Raccoon results and for the latter team's post-match interview with esports.gg.

After earning the first map victory in the OWCS Dallas Major Grand Final, Crazy Raccoon players looked strong. They lived up to their reputation as the winners of OWCS Asia Stage 1. In Game 2, however, Team Falcons evened the score with a win in New Junk City. This didn't deter Crazy Raccoon as they soon took Game 3 and Game 4 in Watchpoint: Gibraltar and New Queen Street.

As the OWCS area filled up with attendees, esports.gg asked viewers who they were rooting for in the Grand Final. The majority of onlookers voted for Crazy Raccoon. At the same time, those who were unfamiliar with Overwatch 2 but decided to check out the action due to the loud cheering also became new fans of the dominant team.

The crowd at the DreamHack Dallas venue went wild when Team Falcons won Game 5, pushing Crazy Raccoon away from a victory at match point. When it came down to Game 6, the cheers of "Let's go Falcons" echoed throughout the OWCS area. Team Falcons just needed to not lose a single map in order to take down their competitors with a reverse sweep.

However, it was to no avail as Crazy Raccoon brought it back in Game 6 on the Illios map. While Team Falcons put up a close fight by controlling the first objective, Crazy Raccoon were unrelenting and went on to win the next two rounds. With a final score of 4-2, Crazy Raccoon became the OWCS Dallas Major champions!

After celebrating their victory, with Park "Junbin" Jun-bin earning the MVP title, Crazy Raccoon players Kim "Shu" Jin-seo and Lee "LIP" Jae-won spoke with esports.gg about their victory and more.

In Korean, Shu revealed that in his esports career so far, DreamHack Dallas was his first opportunity to actually experience such a large audience. Some of his experiences in Korea, for example, had only about 200 people at a venue. To Shu, feeling the energy of the crowd at the OWCS Dallas Major 2024 was very exciting — especially with all of the chanting.

Both Shu and LIP also shared their thoughts on how Crazy Raccoon's team dynamics helped them all reach the top. While the players had really good team chemistry, there was one point during the finals against Team Falcons where they lost a game. However, they pushed through and later won the overall tournament.

The OWCS Dallas Major Grand Final was a battle for the top spot in the Asia region. Crazy Raccoon displayed dominance even prior to this event as the OWCS Asia Stage 1 winners. The roster showcased their skills with the inclusion of Chae "HeeSang" Hee-sang, who boasted the most Player of the Match victories in the region. As a powerful team with experienced coaches, Crazy Raccoon became a regional favorite.

Meanwhile, Team Falcons players tested their might throughout the circuit and the OWCS Dallas Major itself. During the OWCS Korea's Stage 1 Grand Finals, they defeated Crazy Raccoon. However, they weren't able to take home the crown in the regional Grand Finals event. Despite this, Team Falcons duked it out against Crazy Raccoon in the upper bracket final at the OWCS Dallas Major and won 3-2, pushing their competitors to the elimination bracket. This resulted in a Crazy Raccoon vs Team Falcons revenge match in the OWCS Dallas Major Grand Finals.
