Blizzard Entertainment will reportedly drop a new WEBTOON series for Overwatch tonight. “Overwatch: Undivided” will be a 40-part series that fleshes out the game’s story and lore.
Overwatch WEBTOON release date
The first three “episodes” of the Overwatch WEBTOON series will release on March 31 at 5 p.m. PT, according to Vice. These three episodes will be free to enjoy as well. Then, episodes 4 to 8 will be available via the WEBTOON Fast Pass.
What is the Overwatch webcomic about?
According to the “Overwatch: Undivided” synopsis, the WEBTOON series will follow the aftermath of Talon’s attack on Watchpoint: Gibraltar and Overwatch’s defeat there. This will place the series after the “From the Ashes” story. While Vendetta will continue launching attacks on research facilities, military bases, and major cities around the world, Sojourn will rally heroes as a response. However, she’ll soon receive some crushing news about how the world sees Overwatch.
Here is the Overwatch WEBTOON synopsis: “In the aftermath of Talon’s strike on Watchpoint: Gibraltar, the heroes of Overwatch take in their devastating defeat. But Vendetta is far from finished, launching attacks around the world on research facilities, military bases, and major cities. As Sojourn rallies the weary heroes to face Talon wherever they strike, she receives crushing news that calls everything she’s stood for into question: When the world says it doesn’t need heroes, can Overwatch still stand, undivided?”
Overwatch WEBTOON preview
Ahead of the release date and time, Blizzard Entertainment gave fans a preview of the Overwatch WEBTOON comic as well. This teaser featured D.Va, Juno, Winston, Cassidy, Lucio, Zarya, Genji, and Echo.
Interestingly, Cassidy also mentioned Gabriel Reyes, now known as Reaper, in a conversation with Genji. These two characters used to work in Blackwatch, Overwatch’s covert operations division, with Gabriel Reyes as their commander. In a recent lore reveal, Reaper left Vendetta’s new Talon with Widowmaker and Sombra.
