Here's why the Voidwalker Venture skin stands out and unites the Overwatch community.
After posting some teasers and concept art last month, Blizzard Entertainment has confirmed the arrival of Overwatch’s Voidwalker collection. Notably, this new collection features a new skin for Venture.

On March 10, Blizzard Entertainment gave players a closer look at the upcoming Voidwalker skins in Overwatch. This collection will feature heroes in sleek, galaxy-inspired designs. Based on the image provided below, the lineup will include Voidwalker Sigma, Ashe, Echo, Venture, and Illari.

Venture gets new Overwatch Voidwalker skin
Although the new Voidwalker skins will arrive on March 31, members of the Overwatch community have already expressed particular excitement about Voidwalker Venture. Dedicated Venture accounts on X such as Venture16424 and VentureUpdates_ informed the community about it. Meanwhile, others such as MainSupporterDF stated that they’re happy it’s not another Kiriko skin. Some folks also praised Voidwalker Illari.
Interest in the Voidwalker Venture skin was also expressed way back in February 2025. In a post, OWCavalry and Alpezerr shared some concept art for Voidwalker Sigma, Echo, Venture, Reaper, and Widowmaker. Many of that post’s top replies praised Voidwalker Venture.
Why new Venture skins matter in Overwatch
In an interview with esports.gg, digital culture anthropologist Adrian Lugo explained that players often connect with their favorite heroes by collecting and purchasing skins. Therefore, Venture’s lack of Overwatch skins since their release has been a point of frustration for some fans.
“Venture was a really big thing when they came out. People really gravitated towards Venture and were really interested in them,” Lugo said. “One of the things that I’ve noticed doing the research is people want to feel like they are connecting with their character. And the way to do that, I think primarily, is through purchasing skins and collecting skins because Overwatch isn’t necessarily a story-based game the way that’s like some single player games can be — even though Overwatch has lore and cinematics and stuff like that.”

Lugo continued, “They felt like Venture’s release was a little bit performative and they were neglecting their first non-binary character. And it really emphasizes, I think, how important skins are for people. They engage with the fandom and their favorite characters in that way. And so it was really upsetting for people to have such an important character be more or less neglected in the skin department. I think that’s a really huge aspect of the game for people. If their character doesn’t have any skins, it’s hard for them to engage with the fandom.”
Not including their default skin, the arrival of Voidwalker Venture will bring the hero’s total number of skins to 24. Our video below goes over all of Venture’s skins so far, including the Voidwalker one.
