Hilarious Overwatch shenanigans await!

Every year, Overwatch players can duke it out in a limited-time April Fools’ Day game mode. This mode features googly eyes galore and special voice lines. This year, the event will be called “Underwatch.” Here’s what to expect starting April 1.

Overwatch Underwatch event explained

Overwatch’s Underwatch event will kick off on April 1 and go on until April 13, giving players a couple of weeks to experience some hilarious shenanigans. According to Blizzard Entertainment, this April Fools’ Day event will have heroes with googly eyes, physics that don’t follow the rules, and overall goofy matches.

“Physics will follow no rules, balance is taking a vacation, and every match is going to throw something goofy into the mix,” Blizzard Entertainment teased. “And that’s exactly the point — Underwatch is for laughter, experimentation, and discovering strange ways to play.”

If this year’s event will be anything like previous ones, then players can expect things like Hanzo riding Orisa into battle, a mini D.Va, Zenyatta firing googly eyes, Moira fully becoming a damage hero as opposed to a support one, and so much more.

However, what makes this year particularly interesting is the addition of the new heroes introduced since 2025’s iteration of the April Fools’ Day patch notes. What does the future hold for Freja, Emre, Anran, Wuyang, Vendetta, Domina, Jetpack Cat, and Mizuki? Only time will tell.

April is about a month away, but the Overwatch Season 1 mid-season update just dropped. Until April 1, players can enjoy the final week of the Conquest event, the Shgyrq arcade mode featuring Emre, the new NieR Automata plus Voidwalker collections, and work toward the adorable Hop Online Mei mythic skin.
