Overwatch 2 One Punch Man skins

Overwatch 2 Season 3 saw the announcement of the game's first-ever IP collaboration. References from the One Punch Man anime will be featured throughout the season in the form of skins and other in-game cosmetics. The Doomfist Saitama skin, for example, will be obtainable from March 7 to April 6. Overwatch 2 will reveal each item leading up to the March 7 drop date.

According to Blizzard, there will also be themed challenges to commemorate this Overwatch 2 and One Punch Man event. The legendary One Punch Man Mumen Rider Soldier: 76 skin will be earnable starting March 7.

More Overwatch 2 and anime crossovers?

Players can look forward to more collaborations and improvements related to these IP collaborations in the future, according to Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller. For now, it's all about the popular One Punch Man anime.

Overwatch 2 characters will still look like themselves despite their One Punch Man skins as well. Keller described these skins as costumes since the heroes will sound in-character.

"Our intent is to integrate other characters into Overwatch but not to replace our heroes," Keller explained in a blog. "We'll learn each time we do this, we're planning on more, and get better at it each time."

Keller also went into how this collaboration is something that Overwatch 2 has never done to such a scale.

"We think the world of Overwatch and its heroes are special, and that their looks and sounds are essential to gameplay, and we want to preserve that while still having the ability to put other exciting franchises and brands into the game," he added.
