The hero trial for Vendetta arrives soon in Overwatch 2. We go over the Hero 45 release date, release time, and what players could expect from Vendetta’s abilities.
Blizzard Entertainment just revealed Vendetta as Overwatch 2's Hero 45. The announcement arrived with not only a flashy trailer, but also information about Vendetta release date and when players can duke it out as her ahead of Overwatch 2 Season 20!
Overwatch 2 Vendetta release date
Overwatch 2 players can jump into the fray as Vendetta between Nov. 26 and Dec. 1 as part of a limited-time hero trial. Then, once the trial ends, Vendetta officially arrives in Overwatch 2 Season 20.
In terms of the exact time that the Vendetta trial becomes available in the game, Nov. 26 falls on a Wednesday. This isn't typical of Overwatch 2 updates, since they usually happen on Tuesdays and sometimes Thursdays. However, based on esports.gg's experience with Overwatch 2 timing, Hero 45 is likely going to become playable on Nov. 26 at about 11 a.m. PT.

Is Vendetta a DPS or tank in Overwatch 2?
According to an email sent to esports.gg on Nov. 17, Vendetta is an Italian damage hero. "Overwatch 2’s 45th Hero steps into a spotlight built on a throne of violence, and her new Hero trailer pulls back the curtain on the Italian Damage Hero who turned her stolen future into a weapon," according to the email text.
Overwatch 2 Vendetta abilities
As for Vendetta's abilities, ultimate, and overall kit, Blizzard Entertainment hasn't revealed all of those details just yet. However, judging from the newly-released hero trailer, we know that she wields a giant sword and performs slashing attacks with fury.
From our observations, Hero 45 also appears to have a move that's a bit reminiscent of Whirlwind, where she spins in a circle. Vendetta can also leap up fairly high before delivering a powerful downward slash that hits in a straight line. This reminds us of Sonya's Leap from Diablo and Heroes of the Storm.
Overwatch 2 Vendetta lore and story
We also notice that Vendetta's lore and story are related to Blackwatch and Talon. In the hero trailer, we see Gabriel Reyes, now known as Reaper, along with Cassidy, Moira, and Genji. As a chess piece falls, her father also falls out the window after being eliminated by Gabriel during the Retribution mission back in 2018.
Now fully embracing her identity as "La Lupa," or "The Wolf" Vendetta channels her rage and vows to avenge her father's death.
