Season 8 is fast approaching and we can’t wait for it to release

Overwatch 2 Season 8 is one of the most anticipated patch updates as it will bring changes to the tank roster in Overwatch. While Mauga will undoubtedly be one of the focus of the new update, there are going to be several other changes as well. Here’s what we know about Overwatch 2 Season 8 release date and all other information about the same.

When does Overwatch 2 Season 8 release?

While we do have most of the information about the new season, here's the Overwatch 2 Season 8 release date.

Overwatch Season 8 Release

Overwatch 2 Season 8 will release on December 5, 2023. Blizzard has confirmed the new update’s release date. While Blizzard has confirmed the dates, they have not confirmed the exact time. However, based on past updates, we can estimate the exact time for the patch drop.

Overwatch 2 Season 8 will release on December 5 at 12 PM PT / 3 PM ET / 7 PM UK. 

New Game Mode - Clash

Overwatch 2 Season 8 will feature a new game mode - Clash. The new game is a different take on the 2CP game mode and hopes to eliminate some of the criticisms with 2CP. You can read more about what the developers hope to achieve with Clash here.

New Hero - Mauga

As we already mentioned, there’s a new Hero that will come out with Season 8. The new hero - Mauga - is the first new tank since Overwatch 2 Season 2. Ramattra was released almost exactly one year before Mauga’s release, in December 2022.

Mauga is an aggressive tank hero who has a very cheerful personality. The new tank hero was available for players in all game modes except competitive for a limited time in early November. His release, on December 5, will give the Overwatch 2 community a new hero to explore and master.

Changes to Battle Pass

There are also a few changes to the Overwatch 2 Battle Pass. The changes will ensure that players can choose to select which Mythic rarity item they want from the Battle Pass. This will allow them to pick styles for cosmetics they have not unlocked yet. This was one of the long-standing demands of the Overwatch community and every is sure to be happy with these changes.
