Overwatch 2 Circuit Royale Perks bug crashes game and suspends players

If you're looking forward to duking it out in Overwatch 2's Competitive Play game mode, then you may want to wait a bit for an update from Blizzard. There's currently a major bug that can result in lengthy suspensions.

After selecting your preferred hero in Competitive Play, choosing the hero bans, and loading into your team's first spawn room in Circuit Royale, you may be given the option to select your two Overwatch 2 Perks. This is unusual as you normally would have to work toward them. If you try selecting a Perk, then it won't even work at all. Eventually, every player crashes out of the match.

We experienced exactly this on Circuit Royale as Torbjorn while trying to get some matches in for the Season 16 Competitive Drive event. Overwatch 2 froze up and kicked us out. When we tried to get back in, the game crashed again. This resulted in a suspension from Competitive Play.

We messaged another player who was in our match before everything came crashing down. They confirmed that the glitch or bug happened to them as well.

Several posts on the game's subreddit echoed this experience. Users ZembleArts and Rabid-Squid, for example, both made posts about it. Many players in the comments confirmed the Overwatch 2 Circuit Royale Perks bug, too.

"Got my first suspension from comp in years over a bug in the game. Yay. I guess if you were planning on playing comp, you should probably stay away from it until they patch whatever this is," ZembleArts stated.

The bug isn't isolated to Circuit Royale, either. According to user therealswood2, Overwatch 2 is also crashing and kicking out players in Shambali Monastery and Junkertown.

At the time of publishing this article, Blizzard hasn't posted anything about the Overwatch 2 crashing bug. Hopefully, it will be fixed soon.
