Orisa nerfed in April 30 Overwatch 2 patch

Overwatch 2's April 30 patch notes were heavily targeted at Orisa, who had been very dominant in Season 10. The exact patch notes, according to developers, are the following:

Fortify

  • Duration reduced from 4.5 to 3.5 seconds.
  • Orisa now moves 20% slower while fortified.

Javelin Spin

  • Cooldown increased from 7 to 9 seconds.

The patch also applied a heavy nerf to Venture's Drill Dash, Excavator, and increased their ultimate charge by 10%. The final major adjustment is a buff, increasing DPS passive healing reduction from 15% to 20%.

Orisa is no longer S-tier, expect more tank diversity

The Orisa nerf should prove to balance out the game's tank pool significantly, now that she has far less mobility and damage mitigation. This means that an over-aggressive Orisa is now far easier to punish and will make the "death ball" composition a bit tougher to run, especially when you pair this with the Venture nerfs.

This will likely give way to an increase in poke-style compositions relying on Sigma or Ramattra, or dive teams utilizing the recently reworked Wrecking Ball or the ever-powerful D.Va. It will be interesting to see how this plays out at the upcoming OWCS major in Dallas and in lower-tier competitive play alike.

With Orisa nerfed, now it's a great time to hop back on Overwatch 2 and test your luck. While you are stuck in those long wide queue times, check out what else we have here at esports.gg!
