Overwatch gets new Mizuki short story

In the new Overwatch short story titled “Cursebreaker,” Mizuki has a conversation with Toshiro before leaving for Kanezaka. Having lived his entire life under the Hashimoto Clan, this trip is Mizuki’s first real assignment. His mission involves infiltrating the Yōkai, which is led by Kiriko.

Mizuki asks Toshiro for advice as he’s worried about the mission. He acknowledges the Yōkai’s ability to mess with the Hashimoto Clan’s weapon shipments and get away with it. However, the Yōkai members are either younger or Mizuki’s age and are just fighting to survive.

“When I think about how I might have to hurt people like that, I guess I don’t really want to,” Mizuki confesses.

Mizuki’s curse in Overwatch

Toshiro then asks if Mizuki has given more thought to leaving all of it behind. But Mizuki is worried about punishment and a particular curse. He says that he’s been running from this curse his whole life ever since it took his mother. He sees the path of crime as his fate. Therefore, he cannot simply walk away from it.

Toshiro, however, gives Mizuki hope, saying that curses can be broken. He also gives Mizuki an anima avatar weapon in secret. For context, the Hashimoto Clan abducted Toshiro to have him create weapons for them. However, Toshiro has been crafting dismal blades for years. Mizuki’s Spirit Glaive, however, is a masterpiece.

Toshiro also gives Mizuki the same advice he once gave his daughter Kiriko: You must find your own path.

What does Mizuki’s future hold? Only time will tell. Stick around on esports.gg for more Overwatch news, interviews, and updates!
