New Overwatch 2 trailer teases Flashpoint maps, gameplay, and Hanamura

The new Overwatch 2 trailer teases the upcoming Flashpoint maps and the possible return of Hanamura.

Overwatch 2 has a brand-new trailer on its landing page. The "Overwatch 2 Heroes Can" video features a version of the "Anything You Can Do (I Can Do Better)" song and teases the upcoming Overwatch 2 Flashpoint maps. Hanamura is in the trailer as well. Read on for details.

New Overwatch 2 trailer features Flashpoint maps

The new trailer for Overwatch 2 showcases a bit of gameplay from the upcoming New Junk City and Suravasa maps. These are part of the Flashpoint PvP game mode slated to launch alongside Overwatch 2: Invasion. According to Blizzard, New Junk City and Suravasa are the game's biggest PvP maps to date.

Once players jump into the Flashpoint game mode, they can duke it out for control over key locations.

"You’ll have no time to relax once a point is captured, as the next one will already be waiting," Blizzard stated. "Not only will this mode test your mechanical skills, but also your ability to plan ahead — stopping opponents from moving on to the next flashpoint will be a huge key to victory."

Is Hanamura returning to Overwatch 2?

The new trailer also features the Hanamura location. First seen in the original Overwatch game, Hanamura was once ruled by the Shimada clan. It was also once Hanzo and Genji's home. The launch of Overwatch 2 didn't feature Hanamura in rotation.

According to Overwatch 2 executive producer Jared Neuss, Hanamura's kit may return in different ways.

That’s all for now. Overwatch 2: Invasion launches on August 10 alongside new Story Missions, the Flashpoint PvP game mode, a new support hero, and hero progression.
