Overwatch 2’s new “Vested Interest” short story spotlights Vendetta and Maximilien. It also mentions a Vishkar character.
Building on the recent hype around Talon, Overwatch 2 has released another content piece via its in-game story feature. This time, it’s a short story called “Vested Interest” featuring Vendetta and Maximilien and Stéphane Cornicard and Chiara Prezios as their voice actors. This new Overwatch 2 story also goes into some new Vishkar lore.
New Overwatch 2 short story features Vendetta and Maximilien
Overwatch 2’s new “Vested Interest” short story opens with Vendetta poised to deliver a killing blow to Maximilien after paying a visit to two of his associates. She asks whether Doomfist even flinched when she eliminated them, explaining that she wants to send a message to him as well.
However, before she can strike, Maximilien explains that he, too, lost everything during the Omnic Crisis. The fact that they’re alike in that way makes him far more useful to her alive than dead. Maximilien also tells Vendetta that Talon is barreling toward ruin. He calls Doomfist’s alliance with Null Sector a disaster. However, Vendetta doesn’t buy it.
Maximilien then offers her a data chip containing valuable information on Moira, Widowmaker, Doomfist and his loyalists, and Vishkar. And if Vendetta wants to stand against Doomfist, she would need allies.
When Vendetta asks what Maximilien has to gain from this, he answers with a seat at her table. He also wants to build a new Talon by her side.
Overwatch 2 teases Vishkar hero
What’s interesting about the new Overwatch 2 short story is the mention of Vishkar. In the franchise’s universe, it refers to a mega corporate entity.
“Vishkar… Vishkar will be more slippery,” Maximilien said. “But their reputation is no longer as flawless as they’d like others to believe. They miss the days of the Crisis when they were the shining heroes rebuilding the world at a massive profit.”
It’s possible that this is a hint at a hero with ties to the Vishkar Corporation. Some players within the Overwatch 2 community are theorizing that it may be Sanjay Korpal. OWCavalry, for example, noted how Sanjay Korpal works for Vishkar and has a seat on the Talon Council.
“Vested Interest” is the third piece of content added to Overwatch 2’s in-game story feature. At the time of publishing this article, there are two more placeholders left.
