The annual Winter Wonderland event is wrapping up to make room for the entirely new content coming to Overwatch 2.

A new game mode is on its way. Called Battle For Olympus, the game mode is a free-for-all deathmatch that features seven reimagined heroes with new abilities. These are the heroes that will be given the god treatment:

  • Poseidon Ramattra
  • Medusa Widowmaker
  • Cyclops Roadhog
  • Minotaur Reinhardt
  • Hermes Lucio
  • Hades Pharah

This limited-time mode will be available in-game from January 5th to January 19th.

What is Battle For Olympus in Overwatch 2?

Battle For Olympus is a game mode set in Greek mythology, giving seven heroes powers inspired by Greek gods. They are also given brand new skins that are dripping with gold and inspire incredible power.

First teased in Season 2, Battle For Olympus is still a little bit of a mystery. We know it takes place on Château Guillard and features seven heroes with new mythology-inspired abilities. But nothing else about the deathmatch's details have been revealed.

From the trailer, it appears that Junker Queen has lightening bolts at her disposal, Ramattra can lift enemies into the air, and Widowmaker can turn enemies into stone. Each hero also has new voice lines as well. But the specific details will have to wait until the game mode drops on January 5th.

The trailer also mentions "divine rewards." But it's still unknown what the rewards actually are. Skins, voice lines, and other cosmetics could be available, but players will have to wait to find out exactly how they would be unlocked.

One prize is clear, however. Whatever player ends up at the top of the leaderboard for most eliminations will receive a marble statue in Illios in their honor.

A deathmatch leaderboard is sure to stir up competition, making this one of Overwatch's most exciting updates yet.
