M80 have parted ways with their Overwatch 2 roster after an underwhelming EWC performance.
The M80 Overwatch 2 squad has been an integral team to the North American Overwatch 2 league. However, it was announced earlier today M80 are parting ways with their entire roster. This news came merely five days after another member, Spectra, left the team. This move also comes in the wake of a below-par showing at the Esports World Cup.
M80 part ways with Overwatch 2 roster
The M80 squad is relatively new to Overwatch 2, making their debut this year on the eve of Overwatch 2 Champion Series Stage One Swiss. However, M80 itself is a massive organization, and so the OWCS welcomed them with open arms. This initial roster was comprised of Ultraviolet, Lyar, Seeker, S9mm and Coluge. This initial roster didn't last long, and M80 went through quite the rostermania shuffle with countless players swapping in and out of the roster. After some time, the squad settled on the now famed squad:
- Go "Spectra" Dong-woo
- Colin "Coluge" Arai
- William "Lyar" Ohlstein
- Alex "Seeker" Taylor
- Charlie "TR33" Chu
- Benjamin "UltraViolet" David
This was an exciting roster to see brought together. Each member had quite a history in the competitive Overwatch 2 scene. They made a great start together placing second and third at the OWCS 2024 North American Stage one and 2 tournaments. This allowed M80 to qualify for the Overwatch 2024 Major, but unfortunately, they finished fifth, after being eliminated by Spacestation Gaming.

Esports World Cup disappointment signalled the end for M80
Then came the Esports World Cup 2024 where M80 had a good showing in groups. But as soon as the playoffs started, M80 had to face off against Team Falcons. The ever dominant Korean Overwatch 2 squad wiped the floor with M80 in a 4 - 0 sweep, ending their run in 9-12th place.
After the dust settled, Spectra retweeted a "LFT" tweet. This was the first sign pointing to M80 disbanding. This was quickly followed by move of both TR33 and UltraViolet to NRG Shock. The final nail in the M80 coffin was Coluge's response on Twitter, replying that "it's over". Down three of their six players, M80 then announced their Overwatch 2 run was truly over.
Hopefully this is not the end for M80's time in Overwatch 2.
