Is Overwatch 2 getting more collaboration events?

Overwatch 2 saw great success with the One Punch Man collaboration and developers are already looking to have another one.

Overwatch 2 had its first collaboration event when One Punch Man skins were introduced into the game. After the success of this crossover event, is Blizzard open to more collaborations?

The One Punch Man skins came as a shock to Overwatch players since the game has largely been focused on building its own lore. To not disrupt the carefully crafted Overwatch 2 world, developers explained that the skins are meant to be cosplays instead of One Punch Man being "real" within Overwatch.

Fans loved the creative collaboration and are now hoping there's more on the way.

Overwatch 2 developers working on more collaborations

In a recent blog post, Aaron Keller revealed that more collaborations are currently in the works. While developers were worried about doing a crossover at first, it seems like the community has liked Overwatch's approach, encouraging more.

"When we first announced the collab, we talked about our values with how we'd like to handle events like these, and players seemed to agree with us," Keller explained. "The popularity of the event has given us the confidence to do more collaborations, and we're hoping to premiere another large collab later this year."

It's exciting to know that a collaboration is coming in 2023 but we currently don't know when or what the crossover will be. It won't be surprising to see the Overwatch 2 community speculating various anime series, video games, comics, and movies that may become the next IP that Overwatch players cosplay.

One thing is most likely for sure, however. The upcoming collaboration will probably be another in-game purchase. The One Punch Man skins were only unlockable by purchasing limited time bundles.
