What does Overwatch x Nexon mean to players?

NEXON will publish Overwatch on PC in Korea and manage local live service and business operations. Meanwhile, Blizzard Entertainment will continue leading overall game development. Both companies will deliver localized content and expand the PC bang ecosystem to strengthen Overwatch’s presence in Korea. They will also hire local talent.

Johanna Faries, the president of Blizzard Entertainment, acknowledged that Korean players have long shaped Overwatch in meaningful ways.

“We look forward to partnering with NEXON, whose deep understanding of the Korean market and strong live-operations expertise is widely recognized, to continue to deliver exciting and dynamic experiences for players,” Faries added.

Korea-only Overwatch events and crossovers?

On social media, some players expressed concern that the Overwatch and NEXON partnership could lead to more region-exclusive content, similar to past cases where players in China received unique events and collaborations such as the special Loverwatch and Talon ones plus the Naraka Bladepoint skins.

At the same time, however, other players stated that they’re excited about a potential Overwatch crossover with NEXON’s MapleStory.
