Quan Chi arrives in just a few weeks!
The evil sorcerer responsible for creating the most iconic feud in Mortal Kombat history is coming to MK1 very soon. This past weekend, NetherRealm Studios debuted the first look at Quan Chi in Mortal Kombat 1, showing players his gameplay, special moves, and a release date. Furthermore, fans caught a glimpse at Khameleon, who is a DLC Kameo in Kombat Pack 1.
Mortal Kombat 1 Quan Chi release date and gameplay
The references were in full swing during the Mortal Kombat 1 Quan Chi gameplay reveal. He clashed with rivals Sub-Zero (Bi-Han), Scorpion (Kuai Liang), and his Deadly Alliance partner Shang Tsung. The trailer showed a December 14 early access release date for Quan Chi in Mortal Kombat 1.
From a gameplay standpoint, the evil sorcerer brings portal attacks. These allow Quan Chi to teleport himself, his body parts, and mysterious tentacles to best his opponents.
Upon closer inspection, Quan Chi’s bag of tricks includes an invincibility, where projectiles do not inflict damage. His legendary rune attacks return to his move set, creating opportunities for 50/50 setups and the potential for sizable damage. Projectilewise, the glowing green skulls are also back, which could make Quan Chi a viable zoner.
While the gameplay reveal did not showcase his infamous leg-rip fatality, what we got was something truly gruesome. Proceed with caution if you are squeamish and prepare your stomach before Quan Chi's release date.

The first look at Khameleon in Mortal Kombat 1
Casual Mortal Kombat fans may not be familiar with Khameleon. She first appeared in only the Nintendo 64 version of Mortal Kombat: Trilogy, harnessing the move sets of Kitana, Mileena, and Jade. More than 27 years later, the same rings true for the mysterious Edenian warrior.
The gameplay trailer shows Khameleon dressed in pink, blue, and green, representing Mileena, Kitana, and Jade. As a result, she utilizes each of their specialty moves, including Mileena’s sais, Kitana’s fans, and Jade’s staff. It’s unclear whether these will work similarly to Tremor’s variations, but it seems likely.
Khameleon launches on January 2024 in Mortal Kombat 1, with an exact date to follow in the coming weeks.
